The A426 provides a direct link into the heart of the city and there are many other transport options, including trains from Narborough station, which is 1.4 miles away.

There are a number of schools for you to choose from in the local area, including Leysland High School, 2.3 miles from the development, which Ofsted rated as outstanding in all areas.

Nearby attractions include the National Space Centre at 7.5 miles away, and Aylestone Meadows, which is the largest local nature reserve in Leicester and is 4.7 miles from home.


On the doorstep

Living in Whetstone will put you within easy reach of plenty of local amenities. A 10-minute walk will take you to the local post office and newsagents.

Your nearest supermarkets are Aldi and Waitrose at 1.2 miles way in nearby Blaby, or if you ever need to stock up on essentials, there’s a Londis opposite the development on Warwick Road.

For family dining, head to The Lime Tree Inn, which is renowned for its homemade dishes. It also hosts events throughout the year, including its own music festival in the summer. Best of all, the pub is a few minutes’ walk from your new home in Whetstone. A little further away is The Bull’s Head at 0.5 miles, open every day from noon until midnight.

Travelling around the local area is also easy when you’re living at Opulence. Narborough train station is 1.4 miles from home and offers connections to the centre of Leicester and beyond.

Living in Whetstone puts you within easy reach of schools for children of all ages, including the Hunny Bear Day Nursery, 0.1 miles away. It was given a good rating by Ofsted and has previously won the Shires Magazine Nursery of the Year Award.

Badgerbrook Primary School, 0.7 miles away, achieved an outstanding Ofsted rating and provides education for children aged four to 11. 

Other options include St Peter’s Church of England Primary School Whetstone, which is 0.5 miles away and rated good by Ofsted. Another primary school in the area is Blaby Stokes Church of England Primary School which is 0.9 miles away from Opulence and also rated good by Ofsted in its last inspection.

Whetstone Golf Club is 0.6 miles from Opulence and is an 18-hole course complete with clubhouse open to members and non-members. Blaby Golf Centre, 1 mile from the development, has a nine-hole course, adventure golf, pitch and putt, and golf lessons. 

There’s also a David Lloyd club 2.2 miles away, which has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, spa facilities and a gym. Badminton, tennis and squash courts are also available for hire.

Staying healthy
Hazelmere Medical Centre, 0.9 miles, and Northfield Medical Centre, 1.2 miles, are both open Monday to Friday and provide GP services to the local area. 

Leicester Royal Infirmary is 5.2 miles away from Opulence and is home to the only accident and emergency service in Leicestershire. It also has an Urgent Care Centre and Children’s Hospital.

Getting around

Opulence will give you easy access to junction 21 of the M1, 3.9 miles away. This links Whetstone with nearby towns and cities such as Loughborough, Northampton and Nottingham, while the A426 provides a direct link into the heart of Leicester city centre.

Arriva operates bus services in the local area, with the 84, 84A services running from nearby Brook Street, a few minutes’ walk from home. Both of these connections operate between Leicester St Margaret’s Bus Station and Lutterworth, running approximately every 10 minutes at peak time.

Your local train services
Opulence is 1.4 miles from Narborough train station, which has regular CrossCountry services to Leicester and Birmingham New Street. A train to Leicester city centre will take around 10 minutes, while it takes around 45 minutes to travel to Birmingham.

For a wider range of rail services, head to Leicester Station 6.2 miles away, where you can travel to the likes of Nottingham, Sheffield, Stansted Airport and London St Pancras International.

Fosse Shopping Park is where you will find out of town shopping 3.9 miles from home, with big name stores such as Gap, River Island and Next Home, as well as a food court. 

Head into the centre of Leicester
Head into Leicester city centre 5.7 miles away, where there is a greater range of stores, including the Highcross Shopping Centre. It includes John Lewis, Boots, H&M and many others. 

Leicester’s Victorian arcades are well worth a look if you enjoy shopping in independents. The Grade II listed Silver Arcade is a great example, it is home to a fashion boutique, delicatessen and beauty studio, among other outlets.

Leicester City Council are currently working on a new programme to improve the area, which sets out a vision and objectives for Leicester’s growth over the next 15 years.  

Extensive redevelopment is taking place across the city, with the Waterside area alone set to receive £25 million of improvements. New homes, offices, shops and green spaces are planned for the region, in turn attracting more investment and businesses to the area. 

Leicester also has Economic Action Plan to work to, designed to deliver new and exciting opportunities to the city centre by 2020. Transport links have been earmarked for improvement, while there will also be a focus on developing skills and job creation.

Purchase options

Buy a new home with 5% deposit

This scheme allows you to own 100% of your home and only pay 80% of the price upfront. You provide the 5% deposit and the government will lend you up to 20% as an equity loan. You can then apply for a mortgage based on the remaining 75% of the house price.
The equity loan is interest-free for five years and the scheme is available on new build homes up to the value of £600,000.

Buy a 50 - 60% share of your new home
with Home Reach

With the Home Reach shared ownership scheme, you buy 50- 60% share of your new home now, and pay a small monthly rental fee on the remaining percentage of your home until you are ready to own the full 100%.
