The best places to visit this October Half Term


October Half Term is fast approaching which leaves all of us asking the same question, what can we do to keep the kids entertained? 

That’s where we come in, we have put together a list of all the best places to take your little ones this half term, ranging from a variety of price ranges to suit everyone! Want to see what made the list? Keep on reading!

The Deep

If your children are animal lovers, we know just the place! 

The Deep is one of the largest aquariums in the UK and is home to over 5000 different animals and species including penguins, snakes, sea turtles, sharks and a whole variety of different fish! 

Located in Hull, The Deep is easily accessible via car and bus and is just a speedy 10 minutes drive away from our Dream development on Preston Road.  

A child’s ticket (age 3-15) costs just £15.50 and an adults ticket costs £19.75, not to mention your little ones under the age of 3 go free! The cost of your ticket also allows you to return to The Deep an unlimited amount of times over the space of a year for no extra cost, meaning you are covered for all future school breaks too! Sounds pretty good to us!

Sherwood Pines

What better way to spend your October Half Term than running through crunchy leaves and going on an adventure exploring the forest? 

Sherwood Pines is one of the Midland’s most famous forests and has a whole selection of activities suitable for all ages! From mountain bike riding, activity trails, play areas and so much more, there is something for all the family! 

The forest is home to 6 different mountain biking trails which range in a whole variety of difficulty and even include an advanced dirt jump course! These trails are free to use, so don’t forget to bring your bike and your helmet along to have a go. Don’t have a bike? Don’t worry, bikes for all ages can be hired from the cycle hire located in the forest. 

If you love the forest so much that you don’t want to leave just yet, don’t worry! Sherwood Pines also offers a wide variety of overnight stays to cater for all family sizes and budgets include camping, glamping and even luxury tree houses!

Go Ape

Go Ape is located across a wide variety of locations including Sherwood Pines in Nottinghamshire, Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire, Buxton Country Park in Derbyshire and many more. 

This is the perfect place to visit for any adrenaline junkys who love a thrill! Climb up into the tree tops and take part in a whole variety of activities such as agility courses in the sky, zip lines and the famous Go Ape Tree Top Challenge. Agility courses aside, there is something suitable for all ages at Go Ape such as the ‘Nets Adventure’ which is a selection of tree houses, walkways and bouncy balls! 

If you prefer to be a little closer to the ground, a forest segway trail is also available for you to zip and race around with your family and friends on your very own segway! 

Prices start from around £20 and activities last on average 3 hours, making it the perfect day out this half term!

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

If your little ones love to be creative, we have found the perfect place for you! 

Yorkshire Sculpture Park has a whole variety of things to see and do including show stopping sculptures, family friendly workshops, interactive trails, storytelling sessions and so much more! 

Located less than 30 minutes away from our Verve Development in Castleford, Yorkshire Sculpture Park is situated just outside of Wakefield and is conveniently just one mile from the M1; making it really easy to travel to via car! 

The sculpture park is free anyone under the age of 25 and an adult ticket costs just £6, making it the perfect place to visit on a budget!
