Some Of The Best Places to Visit in Leeds This Summer

The unofficial capital of Yorkshire, Leeds is a vibrant city, bursting with life, creativity and energy. And for those who are able to call this great city their home, there’s a diverse and exciting range of things to see and do. Here are some of our favourite places to visit in Leeds, whether it’s year round or exclusively for summer 2023.

Belgrave Music Hall and Canteen

Belgrave is an independent venue located in Leeds’ vibrant Northern Quarter. Here you’ll find live music, comedy, art and film exhibitions as well as amazing canteen style street food. And it’s also home to Leed’s most spectacular roof terrace!

Brudenell Social Club

It’s probably not much of an exaggeration to say that Brudenell Social Club is one of Leeds’ most famous and most loved music venues. Capable of booking both well-known artists and those who are up and coming, you’ll often find two shows happening simultaneously. It's a fun, lively place, with events taking place most nights of the week, so it’s well worth checking out what’s on!

Headrow House

Located in one of Leeds’ historic yards, former textile mill Headrow House is now a four storey multi-use arts and events space. There’s bars (three to be exact), a beer hall, an award winning restaurant and three outdoor areas to enjoy. Whether you’re looking to indulge in music, live comedy or maker’s markets featuring local artists selling prints, plants, homeware and more, it’s definitely one place that’s a must visit in Leeds all year round.

Temple Newsam

Set in 1500 acres of scenic parkland and just a 10 minute drive from our Desire development, Temple Newsam is well worth a visit and offers plenty to see and do. Considered to be one of England’s great houses, you can enjoy exploring over 500 years of history in the house itself. There’s also Home Farm, which is home to one of the largest rare breed centres in Europe, as well as nature trails all ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding. And there’s the option to have a picnic by the lakeside gardens too, or spend time as a family in the adventure playground. Temple Newsam also hosts many events throughout the year, such as walking tours, creative workshops, nature walks and a tea and talk club. This summer there’s also the opportunity to enjoy some open air theatre, with Heartbreak productions bringing three open air performances to Temple Newsam this August.

Millennium Square

Millenium Square is a versatile outdoor event’s space right in the middle of Leeds city centre. And this summer you can enjoy the return of its Summer Series. With performances ranging from some of the biggest names in pop, to orchestras playing club classics and live opera throughout July and into August, this iconic venue is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in Leeds this summer.

St Aidan’s Nature Park

Just a 15 minute drive from our Desire development, you’ll find St Aidan’s nature park. Alive with wildlife, visitors can explore a variety of habitats including woodland, meadows, reedbeds and wetlands throughout the year. There’s also a range of events to enjoy, including wellbeing wanders, birding for beginners and nocturnal wildlife walks. On top of all that, you’ll also discover a number of family friendly events and activities to enjoy this summer too, including a teddy bears picnic running from July 1st to 31st August, and family nature events every Tuesday throughout August.

Roundhay Park

Just a 15 minute drive from our Kudos development and only 10 minutes from our Identity development, you’ll find one of the most popular attractions in Leeds. With close to 1 million visitors each year, Roundhay Park is home to 700 acres of parkland, lakes and streams, specialist gardens, woodland, cafes and playgrounds. There’s also a skate park, and football, rugby, tennis and cricket pitches.
