Create the perfect view

Depending how many people are joining you to watch the match, and the size of your room, you’ll want to ensure the TV or projector screen is in a prime position to be seen from different angles.

Test which positions the screen works in the room (including powerpoints and space), and then play around with seating arrangements until you find the perfect balance!

Make sure it sounds good

Whether you’re watching on a TV or projector, enhancing the sound can go a long way to creating that stadium atmosphere and enhancing the excitement. A decent surround sound system or sound bar can make the world of difference.

Not wanting to invest? Why not ask around and see if anyone has one you can borrow for the event?

Set the right lighting

If you’re planning to watch the final outside with a projector screen, you will need to consider that at when the Euro’s final takes place at 8pm on Sunday 14th July, the sun won’t set until 9:26pm. So having a gazebo or some form of cover to make the space around the screen dark is essential for a clear view.

If you’re watching it indoors, make sure you’ve considered where the natural light enters the room to minimise glare. You may also want to set the mood with some ambient lighting, from lamps or dimmable ceiling lights that won’t impact the screen but allow you to see where the snacks are!

Test your connectivity

If you’re watching on an internet stream, be sure you have a stable connection that won’t cut out at a key moment! A wired connection is always best where possible, but alternatively you can use boosters to ensure you have a strong WIFI connection for the stream.

If you are using WIFI to stream, consider not allowing guests to also join your network as the more devices, the slower it will be.

Trim up for your team

Get into the spirit with flags and bunting, banners and balloons! You could even get themed snack bowls and plates, cups and napkins! Anything you can think of to show your support and create a festive atmosphere for the big game.

Get serious about snacks

This is a very important part of hosting any event: getting the snacks right. While people are watching the match, have easy to grab snacks on hand such as crisps and pretzels, veg sticks and dips, etc. You could also have a half time buffet for people to grab during the break.

Comfort is key

Whether you’re outside or inside, ensure everyone has access to a seat, cushions and blankets so everyone is comfortable and can relax while enjoying the match. Also best to nominate someone to be in charge of the remote control and have it to hand to react quickly if anything goes wrong, or the volume needs adjusting.

Pre-match fun and games

Naturally you will be inviting your guests round before the match begins, so have a plan for how you’ll keep people entertained before the game begins. Whether it’s a football-themed quiz and activities, or just a pre-match BBQ and socialising, pre-plan how you’ll spend the time so people know what to expect and can get excited for the build up as well as the main event!
