A delivery turns up -
what could be simpler?
Take it for granted,
think nothing of it,
but the challenge is massive.

Country in lockdown,
materials shortage,
deliveries stolen,
suppliers run dry -
major suppliers.

Fix one problem;
the challenge changes.
First timber,
then steel.
Bricks,
now mortar.

It’s a learning curve straight up a mountain.
It’s not a job you can do by yourself.
Your team has to be strong,
and you’ve got to get on.
Spinning plates; fighting fires,
being quick off the mark:
the best price
in the quickest time.

My mentality has changed.
Before Strata, it was relentless,
now it’s controlled.
Before Strata, it was just work,
now it’s progress.

I want to do the best job I can,
do anything to help,
anything to keep us going.

Things have gotten worse,
but we’ve got better.
