Eden Locke: the most instagram-able hotel in Edinburgh

Our creative editor, Fern Liston, takes in the sites of one of the UK’s most beautiful cities from the comfort of one of its newest boutique aparthotels.

Eden Locke is located on George Street, a leisurely 25-minute walk from Waverley train station in the heart of the Scottish capital. Just a short walk from some of the city’s iconic landmarks, including Edinburgh castle (or Hogwarts if you’re a Potter fan!), the aparthotel is an ideally located and affordable option for a city break.

My first impressions of Eden Locke, were ‘WOW’. There was a great atmosphere from the moment we stepped into reception to when we checked out 3 days later. It felt like I was in the suburb of Brooklyn, not the city of Edinburgh. It was simple, yet sophisticated and they really had thought of every tiny detail, from Salted Caramel Kinsey Apothecary bathroom toiletries to the Eden Locke lunch box. With its Scandinavian-inspired décor and modern design, the experience really was second to none.

We stayed in the Studio Apartment which boasted of an array of contemporary tones throughout, from soft pastel walls, to the marble effect kitchen dining area and bright mustard doors. The room came with a fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher, washing machine and utensils; a fridge stocked with water and milk; cupboards with porridge and coffee; and the best part, a cocktail shaker and champagne glasses.

Everything we could need to enjoy a perfect day or night in was right there in our apartment. And when we did fancy a freshly brewed coffee or a cocktail we haven’t made ourselves, Hyde and Son occupy the ground level of the hotel and served an array of drinks day and night in the same modern and stylish surroundings.

The verdict; I challenge anyone to find me a more beautiful, simple and Instagram-able place to stay in Edinburgh. If you’re looking for an interior design haven in the centre of a beautifully picturesque city, Eden Locke is the place to be.
