UP AND COMING

Ossett is a few miles from Wakefield, which is fast becoming one of the north’s most important business hubs. A multi-million pound regeneration project is underway, bringing exciting new investment to the city.

There are big plans for the centre of Wakefield, including the redevelopment of more than 100,000 square foot of derelict buildings at Rutland Mills. This will bring a new lease of life to the city’s waterside and bring more investment to the area.

Improvements have already been made to Wakefield Westgate train station, with attention now moving towards Wakefield Kirkgate. The Grade II listed building will benefit from a new café, as well as ticketing facilities and meeting rooms available for community use.

Meanwhile, the initial phases of the Merchant Gate office, residential and leisure development have been completed. The city’s Civic Quarter is next to be redeveloped, with the Old Crown Court and West Yorkshire Archives buildings among those set to be improved.
