Doncaster town centre is within easy reach by bus or car and has a shopping centre and historic market. Services from the train station, 3.4 miles from Dominion, will connect you to cities throughout the north of England and further afield. It has ideal transport links to major towns and cities in the north, high-speed rail links to London and an international airport.

Living at Dominion, you’re never far from great local attractions. Explore the lakes and countryside at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve, 1.5 miles away, while the green fields and woodland of Woodfield Park are 1.3 miles from home.

There’s an area off Plantation Road, 0.4 miles from home, that’s ideal for enjoying a meal or an evening drink. The Maple Tree is a pub and restaurant serving food throughout the day. Head over the road to Rioja, a cosy wine and tapas bar that often hosts live music nights.

Dominion’s transformation of this area in Doncaster includes Carr Lodge Academy, a new primary school with state-of-the-art buildings and facilities. The school accommodates more than 400 children aged three to 11. There is also a nursery with specialist provision for two-year olds.

Woodfield Primary School, 1.4 miles from the development, was rated good by Ofsted in its latest inspection. There are plenty of after-school clubs for children to get involved in, including everything from drama to baking and gardening.

Balby Central Primary Academy is another option and is 2.4 miles from home. The school is available to youngsters from nursery age right through to Year 6. Slightly further afield at 2.5 miles is St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School, a diverse school where as many as 40% of children don’t speak English as their first language. 
Furthering your education

Balby Carr Community Academy is a specialist sports and science college 2 miles from the development. 

The Hub, which is Doncaster College’s town centre campus, offers a variety of courses and apprenticeships. Located 3.7 miles from Dominion, you can study a wide range of subjects including travel and tourism, accounting, music and sport.

Junction 3 of the M18 is 2 miles away from Dominion with direct links to the M1 and major cities including Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham and Leeds.

Great Yorkshire Way, a new road that runs straight to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, is a four-minute drive from home and will get you to the airport in around 12 minutes.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport is 6.7 miles away and has flights across Europe and further afield. Destinations include Berlin, Alicante and Warsaw, with more being added to the list every year.

Public transport links
The First South Yorkshire 73 bus service runs from Dominion to Doncaster town centre in around 20 minutes, passing Lakeside Village along the way. 

Doncaster train station is 3.4 miles away in the town centre. The station is on the East Coast mainline and has excellent links to towns and cities all over the country. Catch a train to Sheffield, Leeds, York, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Manchester, among others, and you can be at London King’s Cross in a little over 90 minutes.

Lakeside Village Shopping Outlet is 1.4 miles from Dominion with stores offering discounts of up to 60%. Retailers include Marks & Spencer, Next and Gap. 

Dominion is also in the ideal position of being next door to a Tesco Extra superstore. Aside from your usual groceries, the supermarket also stocks everything from electricals to clothes and homeware – there’s also an optician and on site cafe.

Where to shop in Doncaster town centre
Frenchgate Shopping Centre in Doncaster town centre, 3.3 miles from Dominion, has undergone a £10 million refurbishment and features many high street brands and retailers. Shops include H&M, Boots and Topshop – there’s also a food court and various cafes for you to try. 

The town centre market has also been redeveloped over recent months. Here you will find hundreds of stalls selling fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

Shopping information for Doncaster


A number of redevelopment projects are underway in Doncaster, with many already completed across the town. The Great Yorkshire Way was recently opened as a faster route to Doncaster Sheffield Airport from Junction 3 of the M18.

Not only this, the Doncaster Urban Centre Masterplan has been created to encourage more investment throughout the region. This includes improvements to public spaces, bringing more creative opportunities to the town and rebranding it as a prime location for regional businesses. 

The new Civic and Cultural Quarter has also been earmarked for expansion. The £300 million development will cover around 25% of the town centre and will include commercial offices, a new cinema and retail units.
