Explore the surroundings
Shepshed has something for everyone. With a range of amenities on your doorstep, the town is surrounded by quaint villages, beautiful countryside and plenty of places to enjoy and explore.
Less than a ten minute drive from home you’ll find Beacon Hills Country Park, which has scenic walks through woodland and open heathland, where you can discover nature and appreciate the panoramic views of Leicestershire from the summit of Beacon Hill. Younger visitors will enjoy the children’s play area, hazel maze and log train, and the whole family can relax at Beacon Hill Café.
Bradgate Park is around twenty minutes away. Covering 850 acres, its dramatic landscape offers fine views throughout the seasons and is home to a large herd of free roaming deer. Enjoy a picnic next to the River Lin as the children paddle in the shallows, explore the ruins of Bradgate House, once home to Lady Jane Grey, or relax in the comfort of the park’s tearoom.
Ten miles away, Stonehurst Family Farm is a working farm, where visitors can meet the animals, ride on a pony or a tractor and trailer, and even hold the baby animals. Enjoy the selection of home-cooked food, or take home some of Leicestershire’s finest produce, with homegrown vegetables, free-range eggs and local cheeses meats and delicatessen in the Farm Shop.
For families with young children, Noah’s Ark offers three storeys of soft play for children and a café for parents to meet and relax while their children play. And for football fans, the Dovecote Stadium, home to Shepshed Dynamo Football Club is just a short drive away.
