Whether you love bold and bright colours or the more understated neutral tones, colour is a huge part of interior design. It’s the best way to express your personality and inject some fun into your home while keeping on trend. Working with colour can be challenging, some rooms don’t have much natural light or may lack space, these are all factors that may affect your colour choices. That’s why we’ve gathered our top tips on what colours best suit specific rooms.
The best colours to use in the bedroom
Colour can instantly change not only the look of the room but also how you feel when you’re in it. And when it comes to a private space such as your bedroom, its important to think about the type of mood you want to create. Do you want a calming, relaxing room or a fun, bright and energetic room? White and Grey hues create the perfect calming atmosphere. Pair that with natural materials, soft textures and stripped back wood to avoid the room feeling stark and lacking personality and avoid clutter, which could take away from the relaxing vibe.
Brighter colours can inject fun and energy into your room. The best way to achieve a colourful room is to stick to one colour palette, this will create definition whilst avoiding colour clashes.
The best colours to use in the living room
Green is one of the best colours for your living room. It carries hues from the natural world and creates a calming, relaxing tone whilst still injecting life into your living room – perfect for socialising with family and friends. Green can be subtle and fresh at the same time and is the perfect alternative for those who find neutral shades too tame.
Black is also a great colour to use in the living room. Although it’s not an obvious colour, it definitely appeals more to the daring, experimental type as it adds a dramatic effect to the room and make your furniture pop against the dark background. It creates a real feature which always works best in bigger rooms.
The best colours to use in the kitchen
Different shades of blue are always great to use in your kitchen, the colour shows personality as well as being the perfect shade to match your accessories with. Whether you want stainless steel, brass or even matte black taps and handles, blue makes it easy for you to choose.
Ivory or any other white hue is also perfect for a kitchen, it may be seen as a safe option, but it works perfectly in a kitchen. This room usually holds the most light, picking up the surrounding colours. It pairs well with just about every colour and material and shows sophistication.
