There’s not mountain high enough to stop our fearless fundraisers as the brave team of 20 took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge for charity! The team walked (and even ran!) the 24.5 miles across Yorkshire’s stunning countryside, raising an astonishing £3,426 for Danielle’s Flutterbyes, our Charity of the Year for 2017.
Speeding through the scenery
The scenic trail took the walkers through the Yorkshire Dales, over the Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough peaks. The majority of the team strolled the route, taking in the picturesque landscape, but for a daring few the challenge of walking wasn’t enough.
Julian Davis, Financial Director and keen runner, took on the route at speed with his partner Sheena. The pair completed the difficult and hilly route, which included a 5,200ft ascent, in 6 hours.
“I enjoy taking on challenges like this one because I get to see parts of the country that I wouldn’t otherwise get to explore,” says Julian.
Tom Dixon, Senior Engineer, also completed the challenge in an impressive 8 hours with his partner Megan. The remainder of the group finished in under 12 hours, a great accomplishment for everyone involved.
Walking for a worthy cause
Although the day took its toll on all the walkers at some stage, they admit that taking on the challenge for such a worthy cause kept their spirits up, as did regular tea breaks! Leonie Weaver, Charity and Events Manager, and Andrew Weaver, CEO, supported everyone on the day by providing welcome refreshments from the boot of their car at the end of each peak, putting a smile on everyone’s face and making the next peak seem more manageable.
