Last month Anjudeep joined Ahead Partnership at their Girltech event, inspiring 13-14 year old girls in Leeds to pursue a career in technology. Having worked with them before on the School Design Challenge, we were eager to partner with them again and inspire more young minds to unlock their potential.
Educating and inspiring
The aim of the event was to better educate girls about the exciting careers available in digital and technology sectors, and how to get started on a career path.
Year nine female students from five different Leeds schools attended the event, which saw Strata and 17 other businesses, including thebigworld, Leeds City Council, Sky and Reed Smith, showcase the exciting opportunities and inspiring stories of women who work in digital roles in their companies.
Anjudeep Badachha, our Business Improvement Manager, went along to represent Strata and talk about her own inspiring career in a technology-focused role.
“Girltech was an amazing experience,” says Anj. “It was so fulfilling to be able to engage and empower these young minds in the world of digital technology and show what potential there can be for their future. I felt privileged to take part and I am happy to see the positive impact it had on the next generation.”
Positive feedback from the event
After the event, the students gave their feedback on the day and the response was incredibly positive.

- 98% said it developed their initiative
- 93% said it helped them to think about their own goals and feel more optimistic about the future
- 92% said it improved their problem-solving skills
- 91% said it increased their confidence and motivated them to work harder in school
- 90% said it improved their teamwork skills
- 86% said it improved their speaking and listening skills
One participant said: “I was able to try out different technology and learn how this links to different career paths. Today has definitely made me think differently about my future choices.”
Ahead Partnership were extremely happy with the success of the event, saying “Girltech has achieved a significant impact for young people across the city of Leeds
. Through our partnership, we have raised aspirations and made a tangible different to the future workforce.”
As always, it’s a pleasure to be able to share our knowledge and inspire the next generation to pursue exciting careers in industries they may not have even considered before. We look forward to working with Ahead Partnership more in the future.
