We’ve tackled muddy obstacle courses, tasty bakes, Yorkshire’s Three Peaks and hundreds of kilometres on foot and bike to bring you the news we’ve raised a huge total for When You Wish Upon a Star…
… £80,198.89 to be exact!
We’d like to thank all our staff, supply chain, family and friends who helped support this amazing charity. When You Wish Upon a Star grants the wishes of children living with a life threatening illness, from being a fairy princess or soldier for the day to meeting their favourite characters at Disneyland.
A year-long calendar of events
Our Charity and Events Manager Leonie Weaver organised activities throughout the year, which included a team of 36 battling mud and rain at the Major Series obstacle course in Leeds, and many others putting their baking (and tasting) skills to the test in the Great Builder’s Bake Off. Everyone was keen to raise as much money as they could for such an inspiring cause.
“We are so proud to have contributed to fundraising for When You Wish Upon a Star,” says Leonie. “It has been an action-packed year and we’ve been thrilled by the response from all our staff and supply chain. We’re so pleased the money raised will fulfil the wishes of some very courageous children.”
Charity Summer Ball highlight
A highlight of our year-long fundraising effort was the Summer Ball attended by more than 700 guests at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. After a three course meal there was a charity auction, which brought the total raised over the course of the evening to more than £50,000.
Other activities included the Great North Run, the Great Yorkshire Run, the Three Peaks Challenge and an epic 47-mile cycle ride between developments from Dominion in Doncaster to Ethos in sherwood/'>Nottingham.
Our team presented a cheque for the full amount to Joanne Wright, Area Manager for When You Wish Upon a Star. She says: “The Strata team has put a huge amount of effort into raising money for the charity this year. I would like to thank them for all their efforts on behalf of the exceptionally special children who will benefit from having their dreams come true.”
