We’re back with the remaining six events we think are perfect to bring a little Christmas cheer to the whole family. We’ve selected those close to a few of our developments so you’ll be spoilt for choice!
7. The best pantomime in hull/'>Hull
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a good old pantomime! This year, see former X Factor star Joe McElderry and comedy duo Cannon and Ball in the hull/'>Hull New Theatre’s production of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. Just 15 minutes from our Amber development, performances run up until January 3rd. For more information and to book tickets, call the box office on 01482 300 300.
8. Bring in the New Year at sherwood/'>Nottingham Castle
Bring in the New Year with a real bang and head to the grounds of sherwood/'>Nottingham Castle, only 8 miles from our Essence development in Hucknall. The entertainment starts on New Year’s Eve at 8pm with live bands, food and drink stalls and the grand finale at midnight with a spectacular firework display over the castle. As this event is so popular, we advise getting there early in order to grab a spot within the castle grounds. Call 0115 876 1400 for more information.
9. Tour Castle Howard by candlelight
The historic city of York, not too far from our Panache development in Sherburn in Elmet, is holding many Christmas events this year including the annual Christmas market, ice rink and ice trail. It’s hard to pick just one, but we think a tour around York’s magnificent Castle Howard will be pretty special. Tour the halls of this grand 18th century home lit by candle light and listen to live music played each day under the Christmas tree. Open until the 23rd of December, a visit to Castle Howard is not to be missed.
10. Don’t panic! Meadowhall has late night shopping
Just over 10 miles from our Mexborough development Shimmer, you can meet Santa’s magical blue and purple-haired elves as well as the man himself at Santa’s magical kingdom. Open now at Meadowhall shopping centre just outside Sheffield, the magical kingdom will be welcoming guests until Christmas Eve. And don’t worry, there’s time for a little late night shopping if you need it, as the shops stay open until 11pm.
11. The Wind in Willows comes to Chatsworth
Chatsworth near Bakewell is one of mackworth/'>Derbyshire’s most popular stately homes, and they certainly know how to decorate for Christmas! This year the theme is the popular children’s story The Wind in the Willows. Follow Mr Toad, Ratty and Badger through Chatsworth’s grand rooms as they celebrate Christmas. Catch them until January 3rd, but bear in mind the house will be closed from December 24th-26th and on January 1st.
12. The best Christmas party in town
If you live near our Identity development in Bramley, Rotherham, then we recommend taking the little ones to the Treasure Island soft play area for some serious Christmas fun. To celebrate the festive season, they’re holding not one but two Christmas disco parties. Children can have fun in the large indoor play area, take part in live entertainment shows, have a lovely pie and mash dinner and meet Santa Claus. The first disco will take place on the December 20th from 6-8pm and the second on Monday 21st from 5.30-7.30pm. Grab your tickets now on 01709 533 688.
