Development of a collection of new homes has now begun at the Seacroft Hospital site in Leeds. Working with fellow Doncaster-based builders, Keepmoat, the site will deliver over 500 new homes and 100 new jobs, supporting the much needed regeneration in the East Leeds region.
Investment in local skills
The development of the site comes as part of a larger project to improve the area. In addition to the creation of 503 new homes in a variety of two, three, four and five-bedroom designs, the new site will offer training opportunities and jobs to the wider community.
A Skills Hub, in partnership with Leeds College of Building, is planned to make the most of the local labour and skills development; ensuring local people and businesses are benefitting from the investment.
Preserving a piece of history
The Grade II listed clock tower resides on the site and will remain a key feature in the new development. There are plans to refurbish the iconic structure and repurpose as a community resource.
Our Chief Executive, Andrew Weaver, says: “We are really pleased to see the first phase of the build commence at Kudos, our flagship development at Seacroft Hospital. The sod-cutting ceremony is an important milestone, a celebration to officially mark the start of work on site.
“Kudos is a landmark scheme for East Leeds, offering much-needed homes in the region; we look forward to seeing the development take shape and delivering our collection of high quality new homes.”
The site is expected to be open later this year, with the first moves anticipated for January 2018.
